Flowers found around Darjeeling

As the climatic condition of Darjeeling is cold and here we can find different type of beautiful flowers as shown below.There are several flower nurseries found around Darjeeling.Kalimpong is center for varieties of flowers as we can find fabulous flowers there like Cactus,Rose and season flowers.

Recent Images of Tea Festival Darjeeling

The Darjeeling Tea and Tourism festival  that started from 20Th of Dec 2011 will continue till 6Th of January 2012.The bollywood actress Mahima Chaudary and  Zeenat Aman attended the festival.

The 15 days festival  comprise of different cultural rally and several other beautiful activities.This time the festival is organised in a better way attracting more visitors as compared to previous festivals.

Oranges of Darjeeling

Oranges are one of the major fruits available around Darjeeling and its surrounding areas specially grown at Mirik, Bijanbari and few other areas of Darjeeling.Mirik is the largest supplier of oranges in West Bengal.The oranges found around the hills of Darjeeling are different that are found on the plains .These are more juicy and tasty as the climatic condition is favorable  December to February is the main season for oranges,Siliguri is the main market for the supply of oranges.

Rope way of Darjeeling :On the way again

The rope way of Darjeeling is restarting its operation from this week again 

This is  one of the captivating tourist destination of Darjeeling which  was stopped since October 2003 due to some unfortunate circumstances .There were few maintenance works which are being carried out carefully and it may take few days to complete .The two kilometer long rope way of Darjeeling is the longest rope way of Asia that runs from North Point ,a place at a distance of around 3km from Darjeeling town to local place
 named Singla Bazar [Singla Bazar-A place at a distance of 8 km from 

Aruna Lama a well known singer of the Nepali Music World

Aruna Lama a well known singer of the Nepali Music World popularly known as "The Nightingale of the Hills".She captured the heart of thousand Nepali music lover all over the world specially Nepal and Darjeeling hills.She was born on the 9th of September 1945 at Ghum Pahar, Darjeeling to father Surya Bdr. Lama and mother Sanmaya Lama.She started singing at an early age of 7 and kept moving ahead unless the entire music lover loved her more than anything else. Aruna Lama got married with Mr. Saran Pradhan who was also a well known musician during those those days. But he left her soon with two little children.

Nine teenagers from Darjeeling and Kolkata, who were lured by dreams of good jobs and handsome salaries, are stuck in the State Rescue Home

Nine girls have been oscillating between hope and extreme despair ever since they were rescued from an upscale brothel four months ago. 

It should have meant the beginning of better times, but their families have not come forward to claim them. And the wait seems endless.
